Our “Why”

This strategic vision describes who we are, what we do and why we do it. It outlines our direction. It defines our intentional, disciplined approach to addressing challenges we face in our pursuit of excellence in education and scholarship. The overarching goals and action steps provide a platform for School-wide decision making and how we measure success.

Our primary organizational function is to provide a relevant, formal education so that all learners are inspired and equipped to advance their profession, serve others and improve the human condition through discovery, ingenuity, hard work and compassion. We are here to serve our students in the classroom, laboratory, professional settings and communities. This is noble work that begins with the instruction and practice of evidence-based, discipline-specific information. On this foundation, we explore ways to engage across disciplines to address major challenges facing our communities, region and world. Through it all, we are dedicated to developing, encouraging and inspiring a culture of access, inclusion and respect for all so that all who persevere may achieve their career and life goals.
